02 February 23 - Start your 2023 with Spring Cleaning - 10 Things you need to do

Spring is the perfect time for a thorough cleaning of your home. The cold weather isn't going away, but it's undoubtedly warmer.

The warm weather and longer days make it easier to tackle those deep cleaning tasks that you may have been putting off all winter. But with busy schedules and limited time, finding the energy and motivation to get started can be challenging.

That's where these spring cleaning hacks come in!

Now you have a challenge - there's so much to do and so little time in between balancing everything else. So we've made a checklist for you to stay on top of all the cleaning before things become serious in this new year.

1 - Make a list of tasks - list down everything!

Before you start cleaning, take some time to make a list of everything you want to accomplish. This will help you stay organized and ensure you remember all essential tasks. Be sure to include big items like deep cleaning the carpets and windows and smaller tasks like decluttering your closet and organizing your pantry.

Think of everything, and make sure to note even the smallest detail when you do this. When you complete this list, there might be an enormous number of tasks you want to fulfil in a short period but take your time - let us explain.

2 - Prioritize your tasks

Congratulations, you made it through the first step. Just like everything else, let's understand that you can only complete some of what is listed on your spring cleaning list.

But we don't want you to make your spring cleaning list to be another New Year resolution sheet that you make at the start of the year and only reopen at the end.

Now, prioritize the most critical tasks at hand. For example, cleaning your carpet can be a crucial priority with all that's happening during the winter over arranging the garage.

Or, based on where you live, ensuring the driveway is hazard free can be a top priority. This is the time to rank the tasks that need immediate attention.

3 - Set a schedule.

Now that you have a priority list, it's time to tackle the cleaning. To make things more manageable, try setting a schedule for yourself.

You could dedicate one day to cleaning the living room and another day tackling the kitchen, for example. Or, you could break your tasks down by room and spend a few hours each day working on one area of your home.

Tick off the most important ones first, like the primary missions of a videogame, and you can come back later to complete the sub-missions (if you have time).

4 - Get the whole family involved!

Spring cleaning doesn't have to be a solo task! Involve your family members or roommates to make things faster and more fun. Assign tasks to each person or have a group cleaning session. Make it a game by setting a timer and seeing how much you can accomplish in a set amount of time.

5 - Invest in the right tools

Having the right tools can make a big difference in your cleaning efforts. Stock up on microfiber cloths, which are great for dusting and picking up dirt and pet hair. You'll also want a good vacuum cleaner, mop, and scrub brushes on hand.

Remember to replace your cleaning supplies regularly to ensure that they are effective.

6 - Declutter as you go

Spring cleaning is the perfect time to eliminate clutter and streamline your possessions. As you go through each room, take a few minutes to declutter and get rid of anything you don't need or use. This will not only make your space look neater, but it will also make it easier to clean.

7 - Use natural cleaners

Many commercial cleaning products contain harsh chemicals that can harm your health and the environment. Instead of using these products, consider making natural cleaners using ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice. Not only are these cleaners safer to use, but they are also often more effective at cutting through grime and dirt.

8 - Tackle one task at a time

Trying to multitask while you're cleaning can be tempting, but focusing on one task at a time is usually more effective. This will help you stay organized and ensure you get all the spots. For example, start by dusting all the surfaces in a room, then move on to vacuuming and mopping.

9 - Take breaks

Spring cleaning can be physically and mentally exhausting, so it's essential to take breaks as needed. Step outside for a few minutes to get some fresh air, or take a quick stretch break to help you recharge. This will help you stay energized and focused as you tackle your tasks.

And lastly,

10 - Reward yourself (yes, you deserve this!)

Finally, reward yourself when you're finished with your spring cleaning tasks! Whether treating yourself to a nice dinner out or indulging in a favourite hobby, make sure you take some time to relax and enjoy the process.
